Masenga Hill

£13.00

Punchy and bright, with overwhelming stone fruit character, a silky caramelised mouthfeel, and lingering notes of spice.

Produced by Migoti Coffee Company in Burundi’s Bujumbura Province, this lot comes from the Masenga Hill community, where smallholder farmers grow coffee at elevations of up to 2,000 metres. The region’s high altitude and cool climate help develop the coffee’s concentrated fruit character, while careful washed processing preserves clarity and structure. The result is a vibrant cup with layered stone fruit sweetness and a gentle spice through the finish.

Producer Info

Migoti Coffee Company was founded in 2015 by engineers Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian and Eric Aroian. Based in Burundi’s Bujumbura Province, the company works with thousands of smallholder farmers across the surrounding hills, providing a transparent route to market while investing in quality, traceability, and long-term sustainability.

Coffee for this lot is grown by farmers on Masenga Hill, where fertile soils and elevations reaching around 2,000 metres create favourable conditions for producing high-quality coffee. Farmers selectively hand-pick ripe cherries before delivering them to Migoti’s washing station, where they are sorted, pulped, fermented, washed, and dried with careful attention to consistency and quality.

Beyond coffee production, Migoti supports local communities through farmer training, access to seedlings, and initiatives designed to improve livelihoods and environmental stewardship. Their focus on quality at every stage, from cultivation through to processing, has helped establish Burundi as a source of distinctive and expressive coffees.
