El Anonal is a washed Bourbon and Caturra grown between 1500–2080m in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The altitude and cool microclimate of La Libertad develop a dense, sweet cup with a nutty body and treacle-like finish lifted by subtle citrus brightness. Balanced and comforting — wood roasted by us in Totnes for all brew methods.

El Anonal is farmed by Orlando Antulio Martínez Samayoa and his family in El Chalun, La Libertad. Orlando is a third-generation coffee grower, continuing a legacy that began in 1985 when his grandfather Javier planted the first coffee trees on the land. Following a major outbreak of coffee leaf rust, Orlando rebuilt the farm with a diverse mix of Bourbon, Caturra, and newer rust-resistant varietals, alongside experimental plots of Gesha and Parainema. His careful approach to processing and openness to innovation have led to coffees with clarity, structure, and sweetness, while maintaining the heritage and craft passed down through generations.
